For 2009 all EGB national rides of a suitable length will be accessible to Pony Club members aged 8 years and over on the day of the ride. For EGB national rides PC members will be able to enter classes at EGB member rates. Members under 13 yrs on the day of the ride will need to accompnaied by an adult 18 years or over who need not be a Pony Club member. Adult escorts at EGB rides will however have to enter at the usual day member rate unless they join EGB.
Pony Club members should apply to PCHQ for a free ride mastercard and a full copy of the 2009 rules.
Most rides will not list separate Pony Club classes and members should just enter the ride distance (either NCR or CR) applicable. Provided that the pony is vetted and the ride is recorded on your Pony Club mastercard it will count towards qualification for the 2009 championships. PC members wishing to attend EGB events should use the standard EGB entry formwhich can be downloaded from the EGB website but should make sure that they write “Pony Club member” on the top right hand corner of the form.
Relevant distances are….
Merlin Training Ride – under 16km, speed up to 12kmph
Kestrel Novice Qualifiers – 16-25km, speed 8-15kmph
Osprey Intermediate Qualifiers – 26-35km, speed 8-15kmph
Eagle Open Qualifiers – 36 – 50km, speed 8-15kmph
(Please note that negotiations are still in progress with SERC and ILDRA with regard to access to their ride schedules as their rules do differ somewhat from those of EGB and Pony Club.)
